How to use Join In Guernsey
Pick the guide that fits you:
- Looking for something to do, for yourself or for someone in your family
- Health and care professionals, such as GPs, practice staff, social prescribers and carers
- Organisers who run a club, group, class or volunteering opportunity
Looking for something to do
- Answer three quick questions. On the home page, choose what interests you, how active you'd like it to be, and whereabouts on the island. You can skip any question.
- Look at your matches. We show a top pick and then everything else that fits. You can change the parishes or activity levels at any time, or choose "Show all" to widen the search.
- Open a listing to see when and where it happens, what it costs, how to join, and who to ask for.
- Check before you go. If a listing says "Confirmed by organiser", the group has checked its details. If it says "Not yet verified", please ring or email the organiser first, because details may have changed.
Prefer to look through everything? Choose "Prefer to see everything at once" under the questions. You'll get the full list with filters for parish, activity level and type of activity.
Helping a parent, friend or neighbour? Add the activities you think they'd like to a print list (see below) and print it out for them, so they have the times, places and phone numbers on paper.
Health and care professionals
Join In Guernsey is designed so you can find a few suitable activities with someone and hand them a printed page before they leave.
- Search with them. Use the three questions on the home page, or the full list, to narrow things down by interest, activity level and parish. Each listing shows the activity level and, where the organiser has told us, whether there's a seated option, step-free access, an accessible toilet and a bus route.
- Add to the print list. Every activity has an "Add to print list" button. Add as many as you like. The number next to "Print list" at the top of the page shows how many you've chosen.
- Print or save it. Open Print list and choose "Print this list". Each activity prints with its cost, times, place and contact details. To email it instead, choose "Save as PDF" in your browser's print window.
- Clear it for the next person. The list is kept only in that browser tab and disappears when you close it. Nothing about you or the person you're helping is saved or sent anywhere. Use "Clear list" to start again.
Good to know:
- "Your GP or a social prescriber can also put you in touch" on a listing means the organiser has told us they're happy to hear from someone you've suggested them to. There's no referral system: the person contacts the group directly, as anyone else would.
- Safety and access details, such as insurance or first aid, are what the organiser has told us, and are marked as not independently checked.
- Don't enter patient details anywhere on the site. It doesn't need any, and there's nowhere they would be stored.
Organisers
If you run a club, group, class or volunteering opportunity, a free listing helps people find you.
- Check your listing. Search for your group on the home page or open your listing directly. If it says "Not yet verified", the details came from public sources and may be out of date.
- Correct or confirm it. Email editor@thequarry.media with the name of your listing and what needs changing, or just tell us it's all correct. Once it's updated, your listing shows "Confirmed by organiser" with the date. It helps to tell us how someone joins, who a newcomer should ask for, how active it is, and how to get there.
- Add a new activity. Use the submission form. A person checks every submission before it appears.
- Ask to be removed. We'll take a listing down at the request of the group. We just need to confirm the request comes from the group; see how to ask for a listing to be removed.
Listings are free. We don't sell advertising or take bookings, and your contact details are used only to keep your listing accurate.
