Terms and privacy
Join In Guernsey is run by The Quarry. By using the site you agree to these terms. They're written to be read, so please do.
Using the listings
- Check before you go. Times, venues and prices change. Listings marked "Confirmed by organiser" have been checked by the group itself; others haven't yet. Contact the organiser before your first visit, especially if you're travelling a distance or have access needs.
- Listing isn't endorsement. Including an activity doesn't mean we recommend it, have visited it, or vouch for the people who run it.
- Safety and access details come from the organiser. Where a listing mentions things like step-free access, insurance or first aid, that's what the organiser has told us. We haven't checked it independently.
- It isn't medical advice. Activity levels such as "gentle" or "moderate" are a rough guide. If you have a health condition, ask your GP or the organiser whether an activity is right for you.
- Each group runs its own activity. Your arrangement, including any fees, membership or bookings, is with the organiser, not with us.
We take care to keep listings accurate, but we can't guarantee every detail is correct or current, and we aren't responsible for loss or harm arising from an activity or from relying on a listing. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have by law.
Correcting a listing
Anyone can tell us about a mistake. Email editor@thequarry.media with the name of the listing and what's wrong. If you run the group, say so and we'll mark the listing as confirmed by the organiser once it's updated.
Asking for a listing to be removed
If you run or represent a group and don't want it listed, we'll take it down. Because removing a listing affects everyone who might have found the group through it, we need to know the request genuinely comes from the group.
- Email us. Send a message to editor@thequarry.media with the name of the listing and your role in the group.
- We check it's you. If you write from the email address shown on the listing, or from an address belonging to the organisation (for example on its own web domain), that's normally enough. Otherwise we'll contact the group using the details on its own website or listing to confirm the request, and won't act on it until it's confirmed.
- We remove it. Once confirmed, we take the listing down within five working days and tell you when it's done. The record of the change stays in the site's public history, but the listing no longer appears on the site.
If a listing contains personal details about you, such as your own phone number or email address, and you're not the organiser, email us and we'll remove those details straight away while we check the rest.
Privacy
If you're using the site to find something, we don't collect anything about you. There are no accounts or logins and no advertising. Your print list is kept only in the open browser tab and disappears when you close it. The site also remembers, in your own browser, whether you last used the questions or the full list. Nothing is sent to us. The site is hosted by GitHub Pages, which, like any web host, records technical information such as IP addresses to run and secure the service; see GitHub's privacy statement.
If you run a group that's listed, The Quarry holds the contact and activity details shown on your listing, taken from public directories, your group's own website, or what you've sent us, so that we can publish an accurate directory. We do this under our legitimate interest in running an accurate public directory. We publish only contact details intended for the public, and we use them only to keep your listing accurate. We keep them while your group is listed and delete them if you ask to be removed or if the directory doesn't continue.
If you suggest a listing through the submission form, what you enter, including the contact details, is used to create the listing and becomes part of the site's public change history. Only enter contact details the group is happy to publish.
Your rights. Under the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017 you can ask to see, correct or delete information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email editor@thequarry.media. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Authority.
